I dont know anything about bikes but refuse to be in debt to get a car.
Can anyone recommend a good bike for a beginner?
For reference
I am 5 ft tall
I just need a reliable bike to go to work which is 17 min away by bike according to google maps.
Im looking to get hybrid bike and something light
So when I get groceries it would feel too heavy.

Also if you guys have recs for affordable gear,helmet and tools it would be much appreciated.

Edit: budget would be 500 or less but would spend more if worth it.
Im also all about comfort vs speed. I can always wake up early to be on time but would love to bike comfortably
