The Nancy Guthrie situation a few months ago is evidence that Nest was keeping recordings of video data even though the user didn’t have a cloud subscription. The main reason I bought my Eufy camera was the local storage option with the belief that none of that video data was being kept on Eufy servers. How realistic is that expectation? I understand that the failure point of my privacy is the memory card the camera uses, but I wasn’t sure how secure I could feel that the data only exists on that card and not floating in the cloud.
