So I moved to Texas a couple years ago and am trying to find a pair of cowboy (cowgirl, I guess) boots. After hours in Boot Barn and Cavender's, I ended up settling on a men's pair of Wolverine Rancher work boots for men - they are the only boot I could squeeze passed the ankle of, but I feel like I'm wearing clown shoes due to the foot size of the boot - they are too large.

That's the crux of my problem: I cannot squeeze my foot in passed the ankle of boots without getting red in the face. I've had faux cowboy boots previously (cheap from a clothing store), but ditched them before I moved to Texas. I need something comfortable yet secure so I can actually go to the ranch and partipate in work instead of standing around like a decoration.

How do you get passed the ankle of the proper size +boot?
