I wanted to use ChatGPT for this, but it wouldn’t hit the same if I did. So let me say it myself.

Hi, I run Lightning Kicks. I sell reps.

In my early 20s, when I had just started working, I realized pretty quickly that the salary I earned wasn’t enough to spend on expensive sneakers. Especially when most pairs are resale priced now instead of retail. Kudos to the people who made it, or whose dads and granddads made it. I genuinely hope I make it one day too, so maybe the next generation after me can buy whatever they want without thinking twice.

But right now, I’m not there yet. So I chose to do something instead of just watching from the sidelines.

I quit my full-time job to build this. Some of you probably already think I’m an idiot for that. Fair enough.

But to the people here who have dreams…

To the people who’ve never owned an expensive pair of Jordans but still follow every sneaker drop, every sneaker page, every post in this sub…

You know why?

Because you love sneakers.

You just can’t afford the market right now.

And honestly, neither could I.

So I sell reps because they give people like us an option. Maybe it feels like a cheat code. Maybe some people feel guilty wearing them. Maybe others wear them proudly. Everyone sees it differently.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you reps are the same as originals in every way. They’re not. But good reps today are also nowhere near as bad as people think. I source better quality pairs from China too — what people in this space call “1:1s,” even though everyone has their own opinion on that term.

At the end of the day, if you just want to enjoy sneakers a little earlier in life while you work toward bigger goals, maybe this is an option for you.
