I’m turning 40 in August. Traveling from NYC area with husband. No kids. Looking for ideas of where to go (trying to keep flight under 7-8 hrs). I love Le Blanc Los Cabos but it will be too hot in August and I’ve already been there a few times. I can push the trip to October but looking for ideas. I like AI because of the comfort and not having to worry about running a large tab. Trying to stay at around $1k night. Considering the following:

1. Grand Velas Boutique
2. Atelier
3. Moxche
4. Sugar Bay

Any other ideas?

I booked an award flight from the U.S. to Mexico in Main Cabin Flex using points. When I logged in today, I noticed two issues:

1. Aeromexico made minor schedule changes to both flights and is asking me to confirm/accept them. The changes are small and not a big deal.

2. The same flights now cost about half the number of points I originally paid. At the current rate, I could either book Business Class or cover two passengers for the same amount of points I spent.

I’m also paying cash for my companion’s ticket, so if Aeromexico refunded the points difference, I’d have enough points to cover both tickets.

The problem is:

* Aeromexico is pressuring me to accept the schedule changes but says they will not refund the difference in points.

* They also want to charge me a $170 USD cancellation fee, even though the Flex fare I booked says cancellations are refundable to the original form of payment.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Do I have any options to get the points repriced or avoid the cancellation fee?
