I am currently in the process of being released from a contract under mutual agreement with my employer. The terms were that I could be released early when they hire my replacement. They are currently in the process of hiring and I believe are ready to make an offer (if they have not already) . My position has been posted for over a month and was taken down from the career board a few days ago. I have found a new job, was hired almost month and a half ago, and they want me to start in one month. My current job wants me to stay for 90 days after the new hire accepts the position to get them onboarded and will not allow me to be done in a month. My question is, if I leave before they give me a release date, can I be reported to the BON for patient abandonment? I gave them and over 45 day notice of my intent to vacate my position. I am inpatient in a specialty, and there are numerous other providers who can see patients in place of me. And yes, I have consulted a lawyer and know there is potential for legal action.
