Obviously it has something to do with the hz but I can't manually set the refresh rate in the OSD and this has never been an issue before. This only happens when my consoles are connected, the PC works no problem. Neither is it an issue on my secondary 165hz monitor.

My ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM1A keeps getting intermittent glitches/flicker/artifacting (I don't even know what to call it) exclusively when it's connected to a gaming console via HDMI. This problem is happening both with my PS5 and Switch 2 which are each connected to different HDMI ports with different HDMI cables. I tried connecting the monitor to my PC with the same cable I use for the PS5 and there is no issue whatsoever. I also tried connecting the PS5 to my secondary monitor of a different brand and it also worked without issues. I have turned off G-Sync on the monitor aswell with no luck so that's not it either.

This is about the strangest tech problem I've ever run into and it seems impossible to find something even close to my issue on the internet so here I am. Hopefully cooler heads prevail cause I have no clue where to even begin

Thank you for your time, videos of my issue below

here it is on the switch 2

here it is during dvd playback on the ps5 - the worst it ever got

Before I start I am asking for help here because I've managed to more or less isolate the ps5 from being the issue as this problem only shows up when the ps5 is connected to my main monitor.

This is when it's at its worst

Sometimes it's just quick flicker

So, my issue is that when I'm trying to play blu rays or dvd's on my ps5 when it's connected to my main monitor (ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM1A) I get intermittent really annoying artifacts or glitches (refer to video). These can also at times persist after I've closed the media player and just sit on the home screen. This isn't and has never been an issue when the monitor is connected to my pc through display port.

I then tried connecting the ps5 to my secondary monitor (HP OMEN 27 165hz) and everything works without issues.

This is an issue that just came out of nowhere, I've used the same setup for quite some time now without any issues and I haven't changed anything recently so I'm confused as to why it all of a sudden decides to not want to work.

The only thing I can think of is that there is some issue when the monitor is trying to display content that is not in its native resolution - as it automatically goes into 1080p mode during blu ray playback. But again, why would this be an issue all of a sudden?

What I've tried;

  1. different HDMI cable (same cable works on one monitor and not the other)
  2. different HDMI ports on the monitor
  3. turn off G-SYNC/FreeSync
  4. change resolution settings on the ps5 (including transfer rate)

I know the easy solution is to just use the monitor that works but I'd rather use the monitor with better picture quality that has worked for ages. (and I also prefer not have my neck twisted at a 45 degree angle everytime I use the ps5)

Thanks for your time
