Unsure of my Tasks as a First year apprentice . 3 months in the electrical apprenticeship
Hi everyone I wanted to ask for your opinion, It’s my 3 month into the apprenticeship with IBEW local 11 been with a company for the last 6 weeks, started my first week with them doing 5 inch PVC underground, second week they had me digging, putting bollards + poring concrete. After then been the last 4-5 weeks digging, spotting the Forman while he is using the excavator, digging and cleaning trenches around 70% of the time, 20% of the time poring concrete and soil to the trenches, and 10% of the time will be really working with PVC.
I only been using my Measuring tape, alignment and straight cutters during all this time.
My question is, Am I on the correct spot? Foreman has told me he only works for this owner, it’s a small company and the owner has a contractor license that’s why we do all this jobs Forman says, and he won’t work with nobody else until the owner has more jobs because he doesn’t need to work, and only likes to work for him.
Currently they had me using the excavator to compact and the loader for the last week.
I don’t complain about work, I just want to know if I’m on the correct spot to be learning the best way electrical work to take advantage of my apprenticeship 100%. And if this is something we all do, thank you in advance for your opinion, I’m learning everyday.
