I read a lot of good things on this sub about BentoPDF, and it seems like a good project. Offering a bunch of tools for PDF editing made me cancel my subscription to the Android app Xodo (or whatever it's called). I've used it a bunch since then and was mostly happy with it.

Until today.

Since I'm using it a lot, I thought I'd contribute back. Improve something there. One obvious example would be the self-hosting journey in general. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops to make it actually fully self-hostable. And that's when I found out this is mostly by design.

I don't want to dunk on them. I just wrote a blog post outlining my reasons. I wish BentoPDF would improve, or would have improved, on this before, as it's otherwise a great tool. More competition is always good as well.

I wish them luck with their commercial offering.
