BTS of building Hudumu - Local / Home service marketplace
I’m in my final year studying software development, and what started as a school project is turning into something I might build for real.
Living in Ruaraka, Nairobi, I noticed how local service providers (fundis, cleaners, caterers, beauty services, etc.) get clients:
- Flyers that people ignore or throw away
- Word of mouth — slow and limited
- TikTok Content creation revolving around there business
On the customer side, it’s not much better:
- No clear pricing → you have to call multiple people
- Hidden “gem” providers are hard to discover
- No central place to browse and compare
- Trust is a big issue
The idea started with home services (house calls like cleaning, beauty, repairs), but it’s starting to feel like a bigger marketplace problem.
So I built a simple landing page to validate it and start collecting early providers:
Right now, I’m just trying to see if providers are interested and understand their needs.
