Subreddits getting pushed onto main feed

I'm getting a lot of related, but granular subreddits that seem a little too specific for my taste. Is there a way to help with the algorithm to tone down but not eliminate entirely?

For example I will upvote a photograph, then the next three posts on feed are film pictures. Now as I keep scrolling I notice it gets more and more specific. 35m analog pictures subreddit, model camera subreddit, etc.

I do like these things but I still want to see subreddits I actually follow.

I can see this as building retention and on-screen time. Good for the stock and engagement but long-time users might get frustrated.

Thoughts?
