Is it a mortal sin to work on Sundays?
My husband works for a factory and is the sole provider for our family. We have three small children and we live in a small home and live simply.
His job frequently requires him to work weekends, meaning he often works Sundays.
Is it a mortal sin for him to work Sundays? He still attends mass and fulfills his mass obligation.
I saw a priest on Facebook who was saying that it was mortally sinful and the person who was asking about their job was suggested to get a different job. While likely ideal, it’s not always feasible and if my husband were to walk away from his job, there’s no guarantee he’d be able to obtain a similar job that didnt require weekend work.
I tend toward scrupulously and this has been causing me immense anxiety. I’d love to hear your opinions on the matter! Thank you!
