Also known as the Knife Edge Galaxy, NGC 5907 is an edge-on spiral located about about 46 million light years away. Capturing this galaxy suddenly became an important project for me after news in the last 2 week of a supernova explosion spotted in it. If you look at the second image, you’ll spot a faint point of light near the center. This is supernova SN2026kid.

46 million years ago, a star over there exploded with a brilliant dazzle to send light on its way to greet us at this very moment, when our civilization has the technology to observe it. For the few weeks it is visible, that star lives again as we observe it's ancient dying echo millions of years after it was gone.
