Cottagecore Cotton Corset

Cottagecore Cotton Corset

Hello! First time poster here. I recently finished this adorable 1890s floral corset, and I'd like to title my YouTube video as "cottagecore corset", since I love the florals, nature, and vintage vibes. However, I've also heard here and there that "cottagecore" is becoming problematic as it is pushing colonial and tradwife ideals.

I'd love to hear y'all's input here. My general vibe for my channel is whimsical, historically inspired, and botanical. I work with a lot of greens, pinks, and florals in nearly all of my projects. I specialize in 1890s-1900s late Victorian, early Edwardian silhouettes, but with a modern twist. I haven't had the need to make deliberate stands to protect my community yet, but I want my channel to be a safe place and NOT promote any kind of gatekeeping, hate speech, etc.

Would it be okay to use the cottagecore label for this project? Is it better to avoid the label entirely, or is it better to take back the space by using it? Am I overthinking this?

Hello! I'm working on recreating a dress from 1897, and I'm looking for some very specific off-white lace. I've tried G Street fabrics, but they don't have much right now. Do you know of somewhere in the area that might have some decent quality lace?
