Hey yall.
5’9 205lb 28 year old male here.
Over the course of my life I have ALWAYS been able to control my weight whenever I want and had no issue doing so. I wrestled growing up so making weight was a very normal thing for me.
In my mid twenties (23-26) I bounced between 165 and 185 depending on if I was bulking or cutting. during these cuts I was genuinely maintaining a 900-1200 calorie intake while burning 3-4k calories a day. (Was deployed, had nothing better to do than work out)
Fast forward to now. I’m 205 lbs and trying to cut down to 185. I have been using this Reddit as inspiration for the first few days and somehow am just now finding out 1200 is too low for men, and not sustainable.
I‘m currently back on a 800-1000 caloric intake this week and feel fine? Just as I had when doing so in high school, and my mid twenties.
TLDR:
I suppose the question is.. Why do so many people claim it’s SO unhealthy or unattainable when I’ve spent numerous months doing so (And been at peak physical capabilities during these times). Is there something going unnoticed?
Note: I maintain 120G protein about when on these cuts.
