There's been a lot of wild speculation about what the Sharks could do with #2OA, largely driven by people trying to reconcile BPA vs our need for a premier D-man. It's been suggested by multiple outlets that the Sharks could trade down.
But I think it's much more likely that they trade UP from 19/20...
We have the 19th or 20th pick in a draft that is incredibly deep with defensemen. At the same time, there's not consensus about which order the top 5 defensemen should be ranked. It makes much more sense to approach that top-end defensemen group from the bottom up, vs trading down from #2OA or taking a D there and hoping you pick the best one.
If one of the top 5 D-men falls out of the top 10, to say 11/12/13, then moving up from 19/20 would be feasible.
If Daxon Rudolph is still there when NJ is on the clock at #12, GMMG could probably move up with a package of #19/20 + Musty + an ancillary pick.
Man, winning the lottery fucking rocks lol
