Hi everyone!

I've been out in the field for a few years now. All throughout my ITP, certification was a big deal. My instructors would always talk about it as something that we should all aim for. I can absolutely understand this, considering it is supposed to be a way of showing one's credibility and their skills.

All that being said- do you all feel like (RID) certification is worth it at this point? I've mostly avoided interpreter/Deaf-World social media for the past couple years due to life events, burn out, and exhaustion (and this job is pretty solitary at times, so I am certainly out of the loop- forgive any of my ignorance here), but here recently I've been hearing some not-so-great feedback. Is RID going to explode, causing a lack of certification tests? Is certification going to mean nothing in the end? Those are some of the rumors I've heard and I just want to make sure I'm making wise choices here in the next year or so. These tests are expensive and I don't want to go throwing away money.

I'm primarily a VRS Interpreter at the moment, and I'm tired. I'm unsure if certification would unlock more opportunities elsewhere or what. Feeling a bit unsure, I suppose.

Anyone here take the test and felt that it benefited them? Anyone have opposing views? Any feedback on certification, really, is welcome. I appreciate your patience

TIA ❤️
