I like the "original sin" aspect of Clark and Lex
I like the idea that Clark's repeated lying to Lex and not trusting Lex with his secret caused his decent to evil. This only really works if Lex is a genuine friend of Clark(i.e. not having him investigated). Smallville should have leaned into this imo.
It removes the idea of fate and destiny deciding who people are. But I still get why people don't like it, this is just my opinion.
