Hi all.

I was a pro on set sound recorder, boom op, sound engineer for a few years. I kind of got burnt out on it and moved on to other directing & production roles.

I spent quite a large chunk of money on a professional sound recording setup after about a year or so of using various mics I pulled the trigger on a Sanken CS-3E shotgun mic which cost me around $1550.00 & a

full-field boom pole setup (pole, internal cable, shock mount, Rycote basket/fluffy windshield)

I spent about 3 to 5 grand on the whole setup which fed into a Sound Devices recorder with set me back another huge chunk of change.

I have moved on to other things & was easily able to sell the Sound Devices recorder for almost what I paid for it.

It's been a while since then & I don't know where the best marketplace is to sell the Sanken mic with the full setup.

I absolutely hate ebay & its outrageous fees and anti seller policies.

Where do you think I could get the fairest price?

The mic is extremely high end & had very little use & no wear & tare or scratches on it. I'd like to sell it with the whole in cable 15 foot boom pole & shockmount & rycote blimp & windshield but I'll separate them if I have to.

Again... Ebay & the like seems bad.... there's 1 active listing for about $1200.00 usd active now for just the mic.

Are there better specific speciality places for film pros to buy & sell? Can you sell here on reddit (as far as I know that's a very bad idea).

Any pointers or help is greatly appreciated.

I had an editing PC crash & I would rather put the money into that or a new pc. I hate to sell it because it has the most amazing voice recording sound & noise rejection of any mic I have ever used, but I need a working high end PC more. I have standard backup mics like the sienhieser mkh 416 I can use as a backup.

No. It's NOT WORTH IT.

Food delivery apps like Doordash, UbrerEats & GrubHub are essentially just taking money out of your car as a loan. It's like those horrible reverse mortgages elderly people get into, only this is on a depreciating asset that you will destroy for doing these apps.

(Newbs STFU - YOU are still in the illusion that you are making money faze. You will awaken.)

Even if you start with a new car, even a ev. You're ruining it for more than you will ever make from Doordash. It's just a time bomb.

One bad pothole can cause immense damage. Nevermind an actual accident.

Routine things that used to be $20 like an oil change are now over $100.

Break change? Forget it. You're now going to have to do rotors at the same time because of how thin they are, then your calipers will go.

Tires? Insane... plus alignment, rotation, battery, gas, & other innumerable things.

Now if you're a mechanic & can do all these things yourself that might improve the situation. but if you're a mechanic why would you be bothering with $5 to $6 orders (the majority) on DoorDash? It's just not worth it.

The turnover is insane. It completely wears down your car. Both the customers & the drivers hate the company. It's not sustainable.

All the talk of "driverless" automated cars won't fix it either. Have you ever been in one of those cars? It's hilarious because the AI is barely functioning I'm surprised any states even allow it.

Who's going to go into the restaurant & wait for the order that's not ready? Who's going to find that bizzare apartment on the 3rd floor with no lights? A drone!? Ha! Good f-ing luck with that!

I spent a long time getting original source material on a controversial celebrity death. I had to comb through hours & hours of police radio scanner audio & edit through 12 hours of audio to break it down to a compressed timeline where I found the relevant material & edited it down to a consumable format around 20 to 30 minutes & added graphics & animation.

This other channel jumped on the bandwagon & downloaded and used a huge chunk of my content (many minutes) with no commentary or "fair use" commentary.

I can see his format is to do this. He basically downloads other youtubers work in full. Maybe records himself making 5 minutes of generic comments like "isn't it strange?" "Let's take a look again" "is it to be trusted?:

He then pads it with massive amounts of other youtubers edits. He takes his 5 minutes of commentary & turns into into an over hour long video by padding it with others work & trying to use the best keywords.

Should I file a copyright strike? I'm a small channel & don't want to start a war but what he's doing is even lower effort than reaction channels.

He even left my entire logo in... so it's not hard to prove.

I wish youtube allowed you to make a copyright "claim" and not a strike. I just want my share of revenue from the huge chunk of my content he used. YouTube seems to not have that option though. The only option id file a stike.
