Broke my knoll generation after 2 months

Hello and sorry for my foreigner english.

Provided I got it second-handed, but it was in a really good condition. I am quite average weight, 85kg (190pounds), I was leaning very much on one side of the chair to pick something up from the floor and I heard a loud pop and now the back part of the chair wont stay straight, it just lays in reclined position. I checked the reclining mechanism and it seems that it is broken. I can see a visible broken plastic piece. See photo
I tried contacting Knoll but they said fixing is more expensive than a new chair lol.

I loved the chair a lot, I sit in weird positions, legs on the chair, legs on the arm rest, legs on table etc don't ask why lol and it was super nice but man is the build quality deeply disappointing for a chair which new costs 1500$. Like why the part that holds all the reclining weight is made of god damn plastic??? It's insane.

Another insane thing is that I can not find much similar experiences online. As I said, I am not particularly heavy person and I broke it quite easily. I was not throwing it down the stairs or anything, just sitting in maybe a little extreme position. Does anyone have any similar experiences?
Are there any chairs with the same philosophy, to be comfortable to sit in any position? Who maybe are build bit better

Thank you for your answers!
