I got withdrawn from my last semester classes due to me missing clinical with an unexcused absence in my preceptorship. A few days ago, I overslept and instead of me calmly telling my instructor that I wasn’t feeling good (excused absence like getting a DR note is extenuating circumstance and accepted) I stupidly told my instructor I overslept due to my phone dying, mainly because midterm evaluation was coming up and I was stressed thinking she may have been at the hospital. I also, am just used to the laid back nature of clinical instructors previous terms. She told me I could reschedule and a LOC would be sent but it didn’t register that the LOC would also involve attendance. To make the long story short, it wasn’t until the next day while I was at another scheduled clinical day that I was being withdrawn from the course, I tried everything but there is nothing I could do.
What sucks about all this is that I was so close to graduating, this school is accelerated so each term is 10 weeks and I had 4 weeks left. I was supposed to be finished June 7th and go on a long awaited family vacation. I also live with my sister to be closer to school and the lease ends at the end of July but now I wouldn’t be finished until the preteens of August (my parents live a few hours away). The only way all of this would work is if I get a preceptorship (you can schedule clinical days in a preceptorship) again but idk the likelihood of that considering that I was randomly placed into it and now I probably have to interview for it before next term. I told my mom the reason I withdrew was because of my grades because I was too embarrassed to tell her what happened and she was pretty pissed about the “grades” reason so I can only imagine if I told her the truth.
