Hi everyone,
I’m trying to identify a Caracalla bronze with Tyche on the reverse, supposedly from Carrhae. The problem: I can’t find this exact type in RPC.
What confuses me is the portrait. My coin shows a radiate young Caracalla. In RPC I only find Tyche types from Carrhae with a laureate portrait. Radiate busts of Caracalla do exist elsewhere, but I can’t locate any radiate + Tyche combination attributed to Carrhae (or other cities)
So now I’m wondering:
- Did I take a completely wrong turn with Caracalla/Tyche/Carrhae attribution?
- Is this type simply not catalogued in RPC?
If anyone has references, parallels, or knows of an RPC entry I might have missed, I’d really appreciate the help. I can post more photos if needed.
