New ways of interacting with your desktop

Ever since I made a switch from Windows to Linux and from Chrome to Firefox, I am exploring new ways of improving my workflow or simply making my desktop environment feel different.

  1. I use Gnome’s dash on the left side and the panel at the top of the screen.

  2. In Firefox, I started using vertical tabs on the right (with tabs on the right and the dash on the left, I feel I use my screen more efficiently)

  3. I wrote a script to launch different apps in different workspaces at startup (Firefox = workspace 1, Thunderbird = Workspace 2, File manager = workspace 3 and so on)

  4. Speaking of file manager, I installed out of curiosity terminal-based “Superfile” file manager (similar to Yazi), and I absolutely love the Norton Commander feel. It’s smoother and faster than Windows-like one.

And… that’s it so far. I am a non-tech casual user and I honestly don’t know what to do next. Any ideas to make my workflow smoother and desktop less Windows-like, or simply to make things more interesting and weirder for the sake of it?
