SKS mags in Canada

Hello! I wanted to ask about the current situation in Canada regarding SKS detachable magazines.

By around September, do you expect SKS magazines to still be commonly available for purchase, as I heard about the introduction of new regulations? What is the typical legal capacity in Canada, and what is the average price range for reliable ones? Also, which stores or websites are usually recommended for buying them?

I’m also looking for an SKS shell deflector. Are those commonly available in Canada as well, and what is the usual price range for a decent one?

How do I attach a scope on my SKS

Hello! I wanted to mount a modern optic on my 1953 SKS. I previously installed a custom Picatinny rail on the receiver, but as you can probably imagine, due to the rifle’s design and tolerances, it still has some wobble and doesn’t hold zero very well (the receiver itself, not the picatinny).

At this point, I’m considering installing a side rail instead, similar to the AK-style mounts. However, my rifle currently has a polymer stock, and I’m concerned about its strength and long-term stability with a side-mounted setup. What do you guys suggest? Thank you for the help!

Is this M-lock? Can I mount picatinny on it? Or are they just holes to cool the rail?

Hello!

I was bored and I thought I could upgrade my SKS with a mag. I have searched for something cheap and I found this 3D printable project (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/sks-mag-kit-illsonjosh). Do you think it could work? Should I give it a shot (the project costs 7,5€)? Or is out there something better (a free 3D printable model/ cheap metal solution)?

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I’ve got a question about my SKS. The upper part, where the gas system is, wiggles a little bit — there’s some noticeable play, and I’m not sure if that’s normal or something I should be concerned about.

Also, as you can see, it has a compensator installed. The compensator is slightly cracked, and it’s Russian (so… questionable quality, lol). It’s a DTK-2 from Zenitka.

What would you recommend I do to fix this situation? With the looseness and the crack, it honestly doesn’t seem safe to shoot in this condition (I tried, but caused low accuracy and it was worrying).

Do you recommend more upgrades?

Hello! I recently bought an SKS (Russian Tula). I am upgrading it and I wanted a picatinny rail (for a bipod)/ bipod that goes where the bayonet should go. Honestly, my nation prohibited the bayonet and I cannot import it here (it's blocked in Russia, also due to war). So, I would like to find a solution (also a 3d custom model, laser cutting) for my bipod. I do not like those ones on ebay, as they are not the quality I am looking for (I like the adapter though).

Could someone help? Thank you very much!!!

Any other suggestions? Should I mount a scope or a red dot? Thx
