Question for lead footed drivers out there
Been driving Mazdas for the past 20+ years going back to the Protégés and then the fully loaded 3 hatchbacks.
Recently took a 2026 CX30 Turbo Kuro in Canada / Aire in US for a test drive and I fell in love with the interior and the drive but here’s my dilemma - I have a heavy foot off the line and so I’ve always gone for the NA engines for reliability - decent for mostly city driving in Montreal
We can’t get the white/grey leatherette/suede interior without the turbo and with today’s gas prices (likely to stick around for awhile) and the break in period and potential reliability of pushing the turbo hard in stop and go from stops, I have two main concerns:
1- will I be at the gas station every week given the tank size?
2- will I destroy the turbo given the short drives / constant punishment?
I’m tempted to just get the NA for the reliability and fuel consumption with the red leather interior but that grey suede dash is sooo nice. I’ll probably go back and test them back to back but for those who have the NA, is it peppy enough compared to the turbo?
Any thoughts / experience?
Appreciate the feedback .
