So I‘m autistic and I have some very annoying weaknesses in my drumming related to that condition. Intuitive, sensory input doesn‘t really work for me. I have a need for theoretical and Visual input, meaning I have to write stuff down and play by sheet to learn. Playing by feeling is very hard for me, I can‘t really imagine things in my mind and I struggle a lot to remember longer parts. Which is kinda annoying in a band context and my need for playing the material perfectly isn‘t helping.

On the other side I can play even complex rhythms by sheet reading and am very good at keeping time.

Do any of you also have problems related to your autism affecting your drumming? Did you find a way to solve them?
