An idea I think works well, but I’m curious about interest and whether its too boring or familiar

The Covenant would be one of a few of the main factions in a novel I'm working on, one of the leading vampire groups in the Covenant take in mymain character after he is brutally assaulted and turned into a vampyr. I think the concept works well for a "punk" inspired gangster/noir novel. I'm curious what people think of it and if there are any questions feel free to ask!

For Context,

Tzina Isle is a colonial outpost for the Sovereignty of the Savross Archipelago. After multiple invasions and five hundred and eighteen years of colonialism and rebellion there is an unsteady peace under the stewardship of the Savross Logistic Syndicate. On Tzina, vampyrs are hunted and drained of ambrosia the blood of a vampyr, and both a high energy fuel as well as the key ingredient necessary in creating Amrita a cure-all serum that can extend life.

Catassi,

Catassi is a bustling industrial city on Tzina Isle and unlife for a vampyr in Catassi is a bit different here. In Catassi the most powerful coven leaders in Catassi formed a secret alliance with the Syndicate leadership that not even the Sovereign knows about. Vampyrs in Catassi who maintain a civil, discreet, nonlethal lifestyle, are allowed to live in Catassi with the stipulation that should any vampyr be discovered, the deal would be void and they would proceed in accordance to the Vampyr Laws. In return every vampyr must pay a “blood tax” of ambrosia to the Syndicate and it is up to the Coven leaders to collect it.

The Covenant,

To ensure compliance, every vampyr that wants to live in Catassi under the Covenants protection from the Temple of Bleeding Saints or any other rouge vampyr must do the rounds making a simple but powerful blood covenant with every predecessor. If someone were to breach the covenant the others would know and if the breach was significant enough they might be excommunicated, loosing their protected status or hunted outright.

How To Join,

For vampyrs inducted into old and powerful covens this is often done at lavish lounge get together’s where the new vampyr is introduced to the movers and shakers of the vampyric underworld. While vampyrs coming from around the Isle or estranged fledglings must go around to their predecessors begging for acceptance, which is not always so easily given and its often impossible for stragglers to be formally accepted. Those that inducted are allowed to do as they please so long as they draw no untoward attention towards their nocturnal activities and pay the tax.

The Tax,

As part of the deal vampyrs have to give Syndicate leadership their magical blood ambrosia, to streamline things and to remind the stragglers and young vampyr covens who’s boss the older, more powerful covens send enforcers, dubbed tax-men to collect and ensure that it gets to the Syndicate. The rate and method that tax-men pay is up to the coven leader’s digression.

The science of Tzina: Hemoturgy

Hello fellow builders wanted to get some impressions and possible critiques on the magic system I've made for a novel I'm working on. For context, the setting takes place in Catassi in the year 1695, Catassi is a bustling industrial city on the Tzina Isle, a large tropical Island country full of dangerous allure, Tzina is coveted for its vast abundances of silver and for the magical fuel known as Ambrosia and it's set five hundred and eighteen years after becoming a colony outpost of the Sovereignty of Savross under the strict governance of the Savross Logistics Syndicate. I wanted a magic system that seemed pseudo-scientific and accentuated the high-risk high-reward society that the people of Tzina have to endure and a world that interacted to such a society “realistically”, so let’s get into Hemoturgy

TL;DR just realized how long this would be. Through the art of Hemourgy, Hemoturges can create psychoactive magic drugs from human blood that can delay diseases, cure fatigue, or even staunch internal bleeding. Warning, may cause eldritch visions of bloody horror or turn you into a cannibal, see your local Hemoturge before imbibing. Thank You for reading.

Hemoturgy, is the practice of using magical bloodletting techniques and blood transfusions to produce almost exclusively psychoactive drugs, the secrets of this dangerous art are held by the Hemoturges who were sage healers and mad chemists both. Each Hemoturgic solution possess a different alchemical effect and a persons tolerances towards Hemoturgic narcotics will vary depending on the users corresponding blood type, ex (a man with type B+ blood drinking a vial of Panacea, the type B+ narcotic, will subdue the effects of disease for a longer period of time and will produce euphoric effects stronger than someone who’s Type AB- etc)

For reasons Hemoturges in the Academy still theorize to this day, people with type O- blood are immune to the effects of Hemoturgy and to the envy of everyone on the Isle are immune from being aflicted with the curse of vampyrism. Speaking of vampyrs Hemoturgic narcotics effects on them are diluted and only the "side" effects work on them, they may not be able to boost their normal power but can get wasted.

Each blood type, the responding rarity of that type, and the corresponding narcotic that can be created with their effects are listed below:

* Rare ~ Type A+ staunches bleeding, and possesses strong sedative effects (guaranteed to stop surface level bleeding as well as interal, however incorrect dosages may also stop blood flow)~ Medicinal use only has to be used in a sterile environment and is transferred person to person

* Uncommon ~Type A- increases blood flow and bone density, increasing physical strength, a typical dose is usually not enough to rival that of a vampyr, but enough for a fit person to overpower a ghoul, causes an increased risk brittle bone disease and heart failure(has a second “unique” side effect for male users) Availability ~ reserved for mine worker use.

* Common ~ Type B+,Panacea, this serum has been crucial to sustaining life on Tzina, though the dark enchanting jungle may be full of allure its danger matches it beauty and it is full to bursting with poisonous plants, disease laden insects and venomous apes, Panacea is drank to alliviate minor poisons, flush out common diseases, and subdue the effects of fatal ones allowing love ones to pass without pain, but more commonly it is sought after for its euphoric side effects that resemble a strong alcohol. (It doesn't even cause hangovers,) Availability ~ Can be bought at Hemoturge Lab

* Uncommon ~Type B-, Black Blood (B,B), creates an acidic concoction that is capable of dissolving through highly dense material upon oxidization. (Saw extensive use during Third, Fourth, and Fith Rebellions), Availability ~ Reserved for Sentinel use only

* Uncommon ~ Type AB+, Vermilion Vigor (V.V), injected into the blood stream to promote healing and decreases fatigue like a powerful stimulant.(Users may experince moderate strokes.) Availability ~ Can be bought at a Hemoturges Lab

* Type AB- , (Admittedly this one is still a WIP thinking about some sort of hypnotic to fully hit all the points I want with the system) Availability ~ Reserved for Sentinel use only

* Extremely Rare ~Type O+ grants the imbiber psychedelic visions from blood that they come in contact with, getting a sense of where the owner was or where they might be, produces effects similar to that of shrooms or other powerful psychedelics, (may leave imbibers with horrific visions beyond their understanding) Availability ~ Reserved for Sentinel use only

* Most Rare ~ Type O-, the concotion decreases a vampyr's desire to feed on the one that imbibes it, in a sense rendering them invisible to a vampyr's perception and immune to the effects of their supernatural abilities, vampyr's that would try to ingest the blood of someone under the effects of O negative would have the blood rejected from their body as a black bile. Produces no known side effects, (I haven't thought of any yet) Availability ~ Reserved for Sentinel use only

* Special Case ~Ambrosia, Amrita is created from Ambrosia extracted from a vampyr, it is the cure all age regression drug developed by Enoka’ Irammai a revolutionary Hemoturge. It can do just about anything short of curing death, the imibers life is extended and instantly they become more youthful and feel as such. Produces effects similar to morphine (may cause serious mental regression and/or cannibalism). - Saved for royalty and Sentinel use only
