Message for VAs about my scripts

I'm not sure if my style of script writing is common or if anybody can understand, so I'll explain to avoid any confusion.

  1. When reading my script, the sentences in quotations are the ones that VAs read when recording. The ones without quotations are meant to describe the scenes and help the VAs get into the headspace of the speaking character.

  2. Any scenes describing the sounds and location of the script are meant to appear in the audio. For example, descriptions of the characters being at the beach in the script would appear as background beach sounds in the audio.

  3. This one is important...IMPROVIZING IS ENCOURAGED! If you think the character should sound a certain way, go with it! If you think the character should say more things, say them! I want any and all VAs to have their own distinct style to my scripts.

  4. Permission is always granted as long as you give me credit for the scripts.

If you have any more questions about my style or permissions, feel free to ask in the comments.

Thank you so much.^^

[M4A] With His Song [Chapter 1] [Singing] [Cozy Ambiance] [Coworker Speaker x Coworker Listener] [Plot Twist?]

Working late sucks, but it sucks less with your favorite coworker. On nights like this, you both usually keep each other company until you clock out, but you recently received two tickets in the mail for a new drinking spot and tomorrow is your day off. What's better than sharing a drink with a close coworker and even closer friend?

Script:

With His Song

Chapter 1

It was another late night shift with me and my coworker, who was also a close friend, hunched over in front of our computer screens before letting out a sigh of relief once we finished. We struggled to keep our heavy eyelids from closing as we saw the damage today’s work has done to us. Once we gave each other a weak, yet relieved smile we started packing up and talking about the plans after leaving the building.

“Finally, now we can go home…”

My coworker reminds me of the plans we made once we finished our shift.

“Ohhhhh, right…you got the tickets for that one place…that’s for tonight…”

They started giving me more information and reasons as to why I agreed to the event.

“Well I guess since I have the day off tomorrow…and you buttered me up with my favorite coffee order…free drinks? Well what are we waiting for, let’s go while we still have the energy!”

We made our way out the building then on the sidewalk to the late night event happening at a new drinking spot. Since it was located in between work and home, heading to the event was part of the journey rather than an inconvenience. As we approached the entrance, I noticed that this place was not like any other dingy bar or overstimulating club, but like a cafe with its own personal stage.

“Woahhhh, I’m getting major jazz club vibes here…not saying it’s a bad thing, just different…the good kind.”

The tickets that my coworker provided took us to our reserved seats with a server ready to take our orders.

“Warm lights, cozy vibe, and reserved seats? You sure you didn’t trick me to go on a date with yo- huh? Drink order? This is our first time here, w-what do you recommend? Well I want a boost of energy but wanna feel a good buzz too. Irish Coffee? You know what, why not? You want one too?”

I gestured to my coworker before relaying their answer to the server.

“Alright, and I think that’ll be it for us. Thank you so much.”

Some time had passed as the place’s atmosphere grew more warm and lively, the drink recommended by the server seemed to improve my experience even more. Then suddenly, the lights began to dim as the stage lights exposed a single stool and acoustic guitar. Before I could form a question, the announcer over the speakers gave an explanation about the special event being described as a volunteer performance. Without thinking, I raised my hand which led to the attention being on me and my coworker as they looked at me in shock.

“Well, I guess it’s time to make this night interesting…”

I stood up, loosening up my suit and tie.

“Let’s see if I remember how to play…”

I made my way to the stage through the cheering crowd and onto the lonely stool. The cheers died down as I picked up the guitar then strummed all six strings before letting my voice sing to everyone.

“Listening to your voice
Is music to my ears
And looking at your face
A gift to my eyes
No matter the weather
I see your glowing shine

Playing this song with my heart out
Living a life with worth
Seeing you is all I need
To keep going
And going
Living a full life
That is worth
Seeing you happy
Forever

Your smile is so bright
It makes the sun go blind
And when you sleep so soundly
The moon wished you were aware
How lonely and dark the night is
Without your glowing shine

Playing this song with my heart out
Living a life with worth
Seeing you is all I need
To keep going
And going
Living a full life
That is worth
Seeing you happy
Forever”

Once I strummed the guitar for the last time, there was a moment of silence before an eruption of cheers and applause from the audience filled the room. I felt my heart beating like a drum as I made my way back to my seat with the announcer sharing his positive thoughts about the performance. Once I sat down, I could sense the look of shock and awe from my coworker as I took a sip of my drink.

“Well, what did you think?”

The coworker starts rambling about how surprised and impressed my performance was.

“Alright, alright one question at a time. Yes, I can play guitar, but just the basics. I’ve also been song writing as a hobby for a while now. And yes, I was nervous as hell once I saw the crowd. But you still haven’t told me what you thought about it.”

They gave me the most thoughtful answer that made my heart beat harder than the performance.

“Y-yeah, I had some inspiration and wrote it for someone. Who? Honestly, to that special someone that I’m still waiting for. But if what I just sang was good enough for you, then it’ll be good enough for my future soulmate.”

I took another sip of my drink before holding it up.

“Hey, here’s to tonight and hope for a soulmate. Clink. What? Do I need to tell you I also have a sense of humor?”

We both chuckled before leaving the spot and part ways to go home. As their footsteps faded into silence, they arrived at their home and wasted no time getting to bed. As they tucked themselves in and fell into a deep sleep, I carefully walked out of their closet and sat beside their body. I caressed their hair and uncovered them to see they haven’t changed clothes, then began to whisper to myself.

“Work clothes again? What would you do without me? Don’t worry sunshine, I’ll take care of you.”

I then began to gently sing the song I performed for them.

“Listening to your voice
Is music to my ears
And looking at your face
A gift to my eyes
No matter the weather
I see your glowing shine…”

End of Chapter 1
