Need some advice

One of my chinchillas appears to be having teeth issues, it started a week ago with subtle things like not finishing all his applewood sticks, which he loves. We started keeping an eye on him since at that point it was the only different behavior he was exhibiting. Then a couple days ago we noticed he was not even touching his sticks now nor his kibble, he however was still eating his Timothy haye. However yesterday we saw that he was now barely eating his hay. I called my vet that normally see's our chins, however they are gone for at least two weeks with a family emergency. Since yesterday afternoon I have been calling every vet within the valley I live, and 97% of them don't deal with chinchillas, and the ones that do, can't see him for at least a week. We however did find a vet that can see him, but it will be tomorrow afternoon. I'm still calling around and I am even looking at emergency vets 3+ hours away. Of course they don't do dental but, can provide pain mitigation and antibiotics if needed.

I will continue to call around and do research, to see if anyone else can help.

This morning he was now drooling, and rubbing his mouth with his paw, I've literally been cold calling dozens of vets for over 6 hours just today.

Is there anything I can do on my end to help our boy in the meantime before his appointment? Any kind of safe pain mitigation I could do? Ways to make him feel more comfortable? I plan on letting him out of his cage tonight so he can snuggle against my leg like he always does, cause it seems to be his most comfortable and preferred snuggle/sleep spot.

And to head off any comments of assumptions that I'm not doing what I can and I need to take him to a vet, as stated above I'm am calling and looking, have been since yesterday evening, will still continue to do so, and even already have a overnight bag if I find somewhere even if hours away to get him help. I do have an appointment for tomorrow at 2Pm. He normally has a vet that specializes in chinchillas but he is out on a family emergency. And before I attempt any advice given from other users I will do my due diligence to research beforehand with the advice given.
