What are your opinions on Akumtamis writing with Ten Shadows
I’ll start:
I really did not like his Handling of the Ten Shadows technique at all.
However I will give credit where credit is due. Ten Shadows is a really cool technique on paper. The fact that Megumi can summon Shikigami using shadow puppets is fucking awesome. I also like the idea of Fusion Shikigami and Totalities, and how you have to actually tame the Shikigami to use them is the cherry on top. However said cherry is on a pile of shit disguised as chocolate ice cream.
First off, I really don’t like how this technique was handled at all, because we don’t get to see the Shikigami in a casual setting (aside from the Black Divine Dog), and the fights we do see with the Shikigami are cool and all, but tell me why within the prison mission we see that 1.5 Shikigami get killed. Not to mention that was Great Serpents Debut, I get that they wanted to convey that special grade curses are giant threats. But goddamnit where was the actual development of those Shikigami, where was the showcasing of Megumi using said Shikigami in creative ways? Great serpent and white divine dog got done BOGUS, it is insane.
Second, what ever happened to fusion Shikigami and Totalities? I swear we only got 2 Totalities, which is already bad, but on top of that we also see one actual fusion Shikigami? Like why even introduce the concept of you’re barely gonna use it? There are so many Shikigami combos that could’ve been used like a Gama Totality or a fusion of Nue and Rabbit Escape. This is I people call Ten Shadows the potential technique cause there so many good Ideas but Gege just does nothing with them
Third, I don’t like the fact that we never saw a Taming ritual, it could’ve been cool to witness Megumi fighting Max Elephant or an endless Horde of Rabbits via Rabbit escape. I wanted this so we could actually see Megumi improving as a sorcerer by taming more Shikigami, which leads me to my last point
Fourth, I hate Sukuna vs Yorozu. Mostly because it is literally a fodder fight that not only doesn’t show the full capabilities of a construction technique (That bug suit was NOT impressive, and it was just an utter waste of a Domain), but also because we get short snip bits of extremely cool Shikigami (Not to mention how much Sukuna was brute forcing the hell out of that technique). Piercing Ox and Round Deer should not have been giving such a “Here bro DAMN” debut. No seriously, your telling me that an Ox that gets stronger the more/longer it charges, and a deer that can heal the user and destroy anyone’s Cursed Energy Reserves get that little page time? And not to mention Sukuna Killed Round Deer to be used in the 2nd ever totality (which got absolutely washed by Gojo). And that is still better than Mourning Tiger, which we never got to see aside from it being apart of Mahoraga Junior. Shikigami shouldn’t be shafted this much if they are the 3 strongest Shikigami aside from Mahoraga. Seriously terrible usage all together.
So a new question arrives, did I make the question because I am genuinely interested in y’all opinions or did I just wanna rant. The answer is both.
