Should I start in manufacturing?
Recent grad looking for a job and I got an interview lined up after months of nothing. The job I applied for was for mechanical design, but they asked if I would be more interested in manufacturing. I said I'm interested in hearing about it since their website didn't give much info on the jobs. I don't mind manufacturing, and I know in the past, starting in manufacturing is a good place to learn and get an understanding of what's actually possible for design work, but I know manufacturing tends to be paid a lot less, and it feels like the job market is becoming more and more inflexible; doesn't feel like engineers can't move around positionsas much as they used to. If offered, should I take it? I'm worried I won't be able to pivot out if I start, but the current market sucks, and I don't know when I'll get another offer.
