Thinking about switching from Fedora to CachyOS + Omarchy for daily programming — worth it?
Hey everyone,
I’m currently using and I’ve been seriously thinking about changing from Fedora to with .
My main concern is stability and daily usability. I spend most of my time programming, studying electronics/computer science stuff, and using the terminal, so I need something reliable enough for daily work.
My laptop specs:
- ASUS TUF A15
- Ryzen 5
- RTX 2050
- 8GB RAM
- 512GB SSD storage
I wanted to ask people with experience:
- Is moving from Fedora to CachyOS a good idea?
- Is CachyOS stable enough for daily programming?
- How often do updates break things?
- Is Omarchy worth using or does it add instability?
- Any tips to make CachyOS more stable for long-term use?
- Would you recommend staying on Fedora instead?
- How is NVIDIA support on CachyOS nowadays?
- Is 8GB RAM enough for CachyOS + Omarchy?
- What should I learn before moving from Fedora to an Arch-based distro?
I like learning Linux deeply, but I also don’t want my system breaking constantly.
Thanks!
