Lysator Syng, Savior of the Galaxy

R5: Have had Lysator Syng as an Admiral in my empire for perhaps 200 years, and have sent him to do a variety of odd jobs. I wasn't a Subterfuge/Espionage/Cloaking focused empire this run, so he was never the centerpiece to my operations, and got overshadowed by a bevy of other admirals I got; S875.1 Warform, Xondar, and Skrand Sharpbeak. He was kind of the odd one out, always a loner, which is fitting for a former criminal and reformed priate, I guess.

Anyways, I've sent him to solo campaigns in empires in wars I don't really care about, slay some leviathans for techs/advantages I don't really need, or ironically enough, clear out pirates from some isolated systems. In the FE/AE wars I used him to hunt down light reinforcements or army convoys, or occasionally ambush and break citadels. Kind of grunt work for a Paragon, and nothing half so glorious as this final send off to my game.

Unbidden arrived with 2M in fleet power as a first wave, and I had them bottled up in a choke point while I gathered my armada. I figured I probably could make the hard push to their core if I amassed a big enough doom stack. But then it occurred to me that Lysator Syng is my fastest admiral, with the fastest ships. The Unbidden could see through his cloaking, but that wouldn't matter because of his speed.

I had him enter Unbidden space and slip past their defenses; engagement range was too low to proc combat, and any fleets that did respond to him were too slow to effectively tail him. He got to the core system, Hizzel, where the sole Dimensional Anchor and Dimensional Portal were, and where a couple small fleets (still 4x Syng's power) were parked. Syng lured the fleets to another system, looped around the system perimeter, effectively kiting them, and then dashed back to Hizzel.

After that excitement, it was a pretty simple matter of just destroying the Dimensional Anchor and then lighting the Portal up. Lysator Syng, Legendary Pirate and Notorious Criminal, who cashed in and sold out to some braniac synths to do their dirty work for them, almost single-handedly responsible for saving the galaxy.

Hollywood Defense 3rd Point: Pylon Placement?

Had a game on Hollywood on defense and got pushed way back to 3rd point. For first and second points it feels like there’s a bevy of very strong locations to place pylon. At very end of 3rd point, not so much.

For further context, tanks were set up in the courtyard next to the RV camper, guarding that space. So my options were to place it above the door to the right, above the center door, or further back along the wall to heal back line.

My issue was that when I chose the first two options, enemy team would take top left and shoot the pylons places up above, and my pylon along the back wall didn’t seem exposed enough to heal everyone optimally.

What are places where pylon should go instead? Is this a position issue all around since we ceded a lot of ground to begin with? Additional context is that in retrospect I don’t think I should have tried to force Illari with Hog/Hazard/Genji on our team and instead likely should’ve fell back on LW at that point, but I’m trying new things so.

Pretty much title. I’m trying to pick her up after the new skin concept reveal, as well as basing my dnd character’s weapon off of her solar rifle. However, I’m kind of struggling so far with playing as her.

A few things I’m having issues with:

Her primary: Mentally I am not yet used to figuring out how her range works, and the gauge feels so finite. Is it best to carefully use this ability and not let it drain completely? Does that affect the refill time?

Her secondary: Part of this is aim as LW’s and Venture weapons are pretty forgiving in terms of value you can get, so I will have to train at that. But with Venture, the range is short sometimes medium; LW, practically infinite. Is there fall off with Illari’s secondary? What’s the ideal range? And is it best to fire charged shots only if you can help it?

Positioning: With LW and Venture I’m fairly spoiled in this regard. LW can make his own high ground, and Venture can get a get out of jail free card to escape risky angles. How should Illari be posted? Is it fine to go on some off angles nearby turret (ideally in a place where turret touches both you and your teammates) to take some potshots at the enemy? Or should she be firmly planted behind the tanks to get value?

Ult: I’m honestly just adjusting to the range. It seems like such a massive projectile where I think “yeah that should hit them” but then it ends up getting no one or only a fraction. I’ve also become painfully aware of Kiri’s cleanse being something I have to time if I want my ult to be successful; not really a problem with either of my mains’ ults.

R5: Just thought that the new species portrait strongly resembled the Broken Lords from Endless Legends. They're both living suits of armor animated by blue vapor/energy/plasma, both have brass/gold armor, and have red robes/tassels. I kind of think it has to be deliberate nod to them.

Pretty much it. Details are that they're Vipra, the Vapor Species. I think they have a strong similarity since they look like living suits of armor animated by a blue energy/plasma/vapor, have brass-like armor, and red robes. You could tell me this was a new Broken Lords Hero and I would believe you.
