Question on keeping coins safe... Such as plastic coin capsules, flips, 2x2's... etc? For high value silver coins?
I have a fairly diverse silver coin collection with coins from many different countries, time periods, and denominations, so sizes vary quite a bit.
I originally started buying plastic coin capsules, which I really liked for protection and presentation, but they quickly became very expensive and impractical for the number of coins I have. If there’s a more economical way to buy capsules in bulk or by assorted sizes, I’d still be interested in that option.
That said, I’m not really looking for coin flips, soft plastic sleeves, or cardboard 2x2 holders.
What would you recommend as the best long-term storage and protection solution for a collection like this?
Is are the coin flips and 2x2 holders my best option?
Many of these coins are AU/MS quality. And so that was why I was putting in coin capsule. Think... idk AU55 1845 Victoria Crown or MS60 something 1866 Thaler. Stuff that needs graded but because I have roughly 100+ of these I have not gotten into yet.
I also would like to know if any of these options have a sort of.. oh idk. Like a box or something nice to keep them in.
Again right now I just have them in random-ill fitting coin capsules in a giant leather bag in my safe.... Not the best.
I saw options like the 2x2 card holders and then you can buy a cardboard box, essentially, to store them... but IDK.
I'm not sure there is a good option here. What would you all do? SHORT of sending them off to get slabbed. Because that would be a process and sum of money going to a coin shop and finding a coin shop that actually knows a thing or two about pre 1900 European silver coins....
I forgot to mention these are all valuable and all silver but I'm not sure if that matters...
PLEASE GOD DO NOT DM ME ABOUT BUYING. THESE ARE NOT FOR SALE AND IF THEY EVER ARE THIS IS NOT THE SUB FOR IT.
