Set against the pulse of downtown Manhattan’s 90s bike messenger era, the musical follows Bobby, a female bike messenger and fearless rider who suffers a life changing trauma after she inadvertently causes the tragic death of a young girl. Twenty years later she is still unable to get back on her bike. Retreating to her family-owned bike shop, she works alongside her Vietnam vet father, and aunt, as well as her uncle who is a quirky fitness instructor/rabbi. Bobby fixes and restores other peoples bikes as penance, all while turning away from her own bike still mounted on the wall. With the right tools, you can fix anything.
Elizabeth Barkan, the show’s creator, first developed the work as a solo show, and has now turned it into a full-length musical.
