hi I am trying to start oil painting and when I put a wash over my sketch the color kind of settles into the texture of the paper. I’m wondering if this is normal? it just feels a little wrong but I’m a total beginner so I don’t really know.

for background im using Windsor & newton winton oil colour. I also bought thr paper a while ago so im not sure what my thinking behind getting it was. I mixed the paint with gamsol (which I attached a picture of) to thin it out. thanks!😊

also I put a flair of technical question but I’m not really sure how that works so lmk if I’m doing something wrong with that.

edit: and also any tips or advice for a beginner very welcome!!!!

hi I am someone trying to get into DIY gel extensions. I did a little research mostly on Reddit and I compiled this list of things to get as a beginner and I’m just wondering if this is reasonable since the total comes to $190 rounding up.

the things I’m getting are: the apresnail kit $100, dnd gel polishes $40, melodysusie led nail lamp $20 (although I’m thinking of just not getting this until later since the apres kit comes with a mini led light), and miscellaneous. $190 is just a lot for me since I’m young and don’t have a job, and I tend to drop new hobbies easily. Although I doubt I would stop doing nails because it is something I’m really enthusiastic about.

I would have posted this in the diy gelx nail subreddit but this post was blocked for some reason. I don’t really understand Reddit etiquette so I apologize for any mistakes(?).
