Post Interview Situation
I am an international accounting and finance student. After facing the brutality of the job market and having no prospects of any work experience, internships or placements. I decided to email local accounting firms in hopes of someone seeing my cv.
And someone did and invited me for an interview. The interview went well even though I have a severe speech impediment and I was told they can potentially hire me in 2 ways and will let me know later.
Part-time working with them along side my university, or
Doing a placement with them by taking a gap year
The director of the firm who I emailed to and who interviewed me, was following up with me during the week when we had the interview asking me to confirm a few details with my university for the placement year and everything was looking postive.
A week went by and we had no contact.
Then this week I decided to email them myself, enquiring about by when can I expect to hear about their decision. And some admin person from the company replied and said they are still in the process of reviewing other candidates and will let me know by the end of the month.
This has been truly heart breaking for me because I thought I was about to get hired and now I just think they dont want me because there was no fixed role advertised and I just emailed them enquiring about a potential role, so who are these other candidates that they are interviewing.
What are your thoughts and what should I do?
