Anonymity isn't about being shady. It's about being able to speak freely without your boss, your family, or your government deciding your life for you.

Whistleblowers exposing corruption, activists in authoritarian countries, abuse survivors sharing their stories, people asking embarrassing medical questions they're too scared to bring up with a doctor... all of these people depend on anonymity to stay safe.

Even in "free" countries, social and professional consequences are real. People lose jobs over opinions. They get doxxed. They get harassed off the internet entirely.

The alternative to anonymity isn't some utopia of accountability. It's a chilling effect where only the most privileged people feel safe enough to speak.

Anonymity is a feature, not a bug.
