I’m an executive assistant for a CEO in healthcare, and while I genuinely like my boss and appreciate the opportunity, I’ve been struggling a bit with the role lately. I came into this position without prior healthcare experience, and I’m still learning a lot as I go.
Lately, I’ve noticed I’m being given tasks that seem like they should belong to other departments/roles and from what I understand, they weren’t even responsibilities my boss personally handled before either. On top of that, I never really received proper training for a lot of this, so I’m figuring things out on my own most of the time.
I don’t mind helping out and being flexible, but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and unsure where the line is between “supporting where needed” and taking on responsibilities that maybe shouldn’t fall on me.
For anyone who’s worked as an EA (especially in healthcare or fast-growing companies), how do you navigate this professionally without sounding unwilling or difficult? I’m just feeling very anxious about this! Any advice please🥹
