I’ve been playing Rust for about 6 years now, and one server I really fell in love with was Limitless Rust. In my opinion, it gets a lot right. It’s 2x, so you still have to grind, but you’re not farming all day just to get started. You can actually spend more time doing the fun stuff: running monuments, fighting, making plays, flying minis, and getting into PvP. Boats and minis spawning on roads gives it that older Rust feel, and the pop is usually high enough that PvP is always happening. But as I’ve gotten older, I just don’t have the time to no-life Rust like I used to. These days, I’m lucky if I can play 2–3 hours a day. I just want to build a base, PvP, make some plays, and have fun.

The problem is…

You can play for 14 hours, build your base into a fortress, log off, and still wake up or come home from work to find out you got offlined. Back in the day, I’d have raid alerts going to my phone and hop right back on. Now, I’m either asleep or at work, just watching the notifications roll in while someone gets deeper and deeper into my base.

So I’ve been thinking about making a 2x Vanilla+ Rust server built around the community. The idea would be:

  • 2x rates
  • Vanilla+ feel
  • Active PvP
  • Community voting on server changes
  • Offline raid protection
  • Online raiding only
  • No crazy loot tables where you’re finding AKs in toolboxes
  • No PvE-only
  • No /KIT /SHOP

Basically, I want the grind and risk of Rust to still exist, but without the part where you lose everything just because you had to sleep or go to work. I’ve looked at a lot of “no offline” servers, and most of them either have barely any players, are PvE-focused, have no kill-on-sight rules, or are changed so much that they don’t really feel like Rust anymore.

So I wanted to ask the community: would you actually play a server like this?

I’d be willing to build it, but there’s no point putting in the time and money if nobody is interested. If you made it through this whole book, let me know what you think. Would you play a 2x Vanilla+ server with offline protection and community-driven changes?
