I’m trying to figure out if I’m being overly sensitive here or if this is actual micromanagement.

For context, I’ve been in property management for about 10 years and a CM for the last 4. I’m not new and I’m comfortable running my property.

I’ve been under my current RPM for about a year. When I was hired, they said they’d support and help develop me, but in reality, I’ve had to figure most things out on my own or through peers.

The bigger issue is the day-to-day dynamic:

- Very little positive feedback, even when we’re performing well
- Comments like “good isn’t good enough” and pushing “be proactive not reactive” (which I get, but this industry isn’t always predictable)
- If I don’t respond quickly to emails she’s copied on, I get follow-ups asking where my response is or telling me to handle it

At times it feels like they doesn’t trust me to do the job I was hired for, and it’s starting to feel like micromanagement.

I want to address it, but I also don’t want to come off defensive or unprofessional.

For those who’ve been in a similar situation:
- Did you say something directly?
- How did you phrase it?
- Or did you just ride it out / look elsewhere?
