My baby is 10 days old (born at 39+4 with induction and ultimately c section). Her birth was difficult, and as a result she had a hematoma from a vacuum and jaundice. She was admitted to the NICU immediately but her head and jaundice issues have apparently subsided. Now the challenge is getting her to feed - she is usually sleepy and falls asleep while eating. We always planned to formula feed and she doesn't seem to have issues latching to the bottle, but she is only taking about 50% of her feeds and they are supplementing the rest with an NG tube. It kind of feels like a vicious cycle but the doctors say that even though the hematoma/ jaundice have subsided, she is still sleepy because she is recovering from the whole ordeal and she should get stronger soon. I am just hoping to hear if other people had similar situations with sleepy babies and if it resolved on its own when they got a little older and stronger- or if there is more underlying stuff I should be worried about.
