  1. Estimate: 65k Total ("total includes sales tax")
  2. First hard quote: 65k, + 6% sales tax = 68,900

When I asked: "My accountant makes me charge 6% on everything, don't want to upset the government."

This goes against everything I thought about business and accounting, but I'll admit I could be wrong. New construction home. Did this guy try to make an additional 3900 with this move?

EDIT: The first estimate said sales tax was included. On the hard quote, he listed the same total, and tacked sales tax on. He also included labor before the line (so it gets marked up 6%). And then he said his accountant makes him charge sales tax on everything. Yet we live in a state that does not require sales tax on new construction (KY), yet supposedly his accountant makes him.

He should have just said here's your new quote: 68,900. But instead he chose to keep the same total, and tack 6% on. And I've never seen that before, and I'm a bit annoyed by it.
