Hello All,
I am talking to few brokerages but wanted to see if you have any suggestions.
I have four 401k accounts that were left with the employers as I changed jobs. All are traditional (pre-tax). I am looking to consolidate for some time now.
I am now self-employed and have Solo 401k accounts with ETrade - Roth and Traditional.
Based on my research, I have two choices:
- Roll over all of them into one Traditional IRA ? Don't have a Traditional 401k at the moment but only Roth since I did a backdoor few years ago and Fidelity closed my Traditional with $0. However, I can open a new one. Since it is traditional to traditional this is not a taxable event.
- Roll them over into the Traditional Solo 401k (assuming ETrade's plan will allow that). Again, since it is traditional to traditional this is not a taxable event.
What is recommended ? Is there any ERISA consideration ?
I understand that rolling to Solo 401k will keep my traditional 401k clean for any future backdoor.
Thanks.
