Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on upgrading the speakers in my current vinyl setup.

My setup:

- Turntable: Rega Planar P3

- Cartridge: Sumiko Amethyst

- Phono preamp: iFi Audio ZEN Phono 3

- Current speakers: Magnat Multi Monitor 220

I feel like the Magnat speakers are probably the weakest part of the chain now, and I’d like to replace them with something that lets the rest of the setup shine more.

Budget is around 500–1000 CHF/EUR, but I’m also open to used gear. I’m considering both:

- active speakers / studio monitors

- passive speakers + integrated amplifier

Some options I’ve been thinking about:

- Genelec 8030C

- ADAM Audio A7V / T8V

- DALI Oberon 5 with a NAD / Cambridge / Yamaha / Marantz amp

I mainly listen to vinyl, but I also plan to use the speakers for watching TV. So they should work well for both music and general TV/movie use.

I’m looking for something musical, detailed, and enjoyable for normal room listening — not necessarily super analytical, but I do want a clear upgrade over the Magnats.

What would you recommend as the best upgrade path? Should I stay active, or move to passive speakers with an integrated amp?

Thanks!
