My hands are one of the most painful areas of my body. Since they’re almost useless, they ought to at least look pretty. Trouble is every time I get my nails done, the rebound pain I get from the nail tech twisting & moving my fingers around to get to all sections of the nails is terrible.
I had the ombré look above done this afternoon and at bedtime I’m icing my hands having already slathered on turmeric cream and diclofenac gel under compression gloves. They’ll be super painful tomorrow too.
Any tips for reducing the pain? Trouble is, it doesn’t hurt in the moment so I don’t adapt at the time. Last time I translated a note about hEDS pain into the tech’s language, and she was very careful until her muscle memory kicked back in and she went about things as she would with any client. Today I wore thumb braces as a visual reminder and thought that had worked until a few hours later.
The answer may be to stop having manis but aside from 2 days of pain, they make me happy every time I see my useless hands so I don’t want to stop.
