My wife is a U.S. citizen and I have an asylum case that’s already in immigration court (EOIR). I have an NTA. I had 2 master hearings before but both got canceled and now I don’t have a new court date.

I talked to two lawyers and got completely different advice.

One says:
file I-130 first, wait, then close the court case, then file I-485

The other says:
file I-130 + I-485 together now and deal with the court later

I’m confused because I thought USCIS can’t approve I-485 while the case is in court, but the second lawyer says it’s faster this way.
Has anyone here been in the same situation? What did you do and how did it go?

Also, did anyone actually file I-485 while still in removal proceedings?
