Is this 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited a good deal?
Hey everyone, looking for advice on whether this is a solid buy.
I’m considering a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i Limited listed at $12,500 in California (private seller).
Vehicle Info:
- 138,000 miles
- Clean title (no accidents, no structural damage per Carfax)
- 2 previous owners (personal lease → personal)
- Currently has a bank loan ($12,500 payoff needed)
- Located in Nevada previously (dry climate car)
Maintenance history (from CARFAX):
- 14 service records total
- Regular oil changes and inspections throughout life
- Tires replaced multiple times
- Battery replaced
- Ignition coils replaced
- Rear brakes serviced at Subaru dealer
- Newer shocks/struts installed (~6k miles ago)
- Last known mileage ~135k+
TLDR:
- Drives fine according to seller
- Seller has receipts for some maintenance
- CVT transmission service history is unknown (not clearly documented)
- No reported accidents or damage
My concern:
- High mileage (138k)
- CVT fluid history unclear
- Loan payoff process
- Price seems slightly high for mileage (~$12.5k)
Would you consider this a good deal, or is the CVT risk too big at this mileage/price?
