Hey guys, When charging a mark up on parts to the customer. What do you do if the customer asks for a receipt of the part?

Hey guys, im thinking of starting my business. Obviously trust is big in the industry.

I know an upcharge is very normal on parts in the auto repair industry.

But I'm thinking of how do I justify to the customer if they ever ask for a receipt of the parts that I get for them. It will show that there is an upcharge. Yes i know you can get the parts at a discount then sell it for retail price along with the repair.

But the question is , what do I tell the customer if they ask? If I simply say the upcharge is for sourcing the part. They're gonna think im scamming them and not see the value in it. Even tho it is hard to find parts sometimes.

When I asked this question to my mechanic buddies, they told me its none of their business to know. But this doesn't seem like a good reasoning, cause then they wont be a repeat customer.

Side note: I do want to run an honest and ethical business before anyone gets the wrong idea.
