I just moved to a 5000 sq ft backyard with NO landscaping, only 6 year old red landscape bark, some leaf debris, cat poop (and possibly squirrel and racoon poop?) some weeds, and landscape fabric and whatever backfill was used to fill in a broken up, old, inground pool. Local soil is basically clay and nearly impossible to dig in if it's dry (No rain 6-8 mo of the year). I have access to an endless supply of compost for free.
I'm in zone 9b, NorCal. It might rain here one more time this spring, but most likely we'll be dry til around November.
What kind of recipe/mix ratio can I do to rejuvenate the native soil as well as make some potting mix, as I'm not ready to plant all my babies in ground.
